Michael Jackson, the King of Pop, died on June 25 2009 after suffering what has been reported as a cardiac arrest.Michael Jackson

Michael was 50. According to reports, Michael was not breathing when paramedics were called to his Los Angeles home this afternoon, June 25th. Paramedics at the scene performed CPR on the singer, who was then transported to the UCLA Medical Center. Michael arrived at the hospital in a deep coma; attempts to resuscitate him failed as he was completely unresponsive. He was declared dead at 2:26 p.m. PST.

Michael Jackson grew up in hardscrabble Gary, Ind., performing with his brothers. The Jackson 5 were weaned on rhythm and blues, a name coined in the 1940s to describe the fusion of several black music styles with a new instrument, the electric bass.

The first Jackson 5 album was released in 1969 on the Motown label.  Michael Jackson was an instant child star. In 1979 his album "Off The Wall," sold 9 million copies, the most by any black performer up to that point.

His next album was 1982's "Thriller," the biggest record of all time, which has sold 50 million copies worldwide. He was the first black artist whose video appeared on the MTV network, and he became one of the most famous people on the planet — of any race.

One of the few artists to have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice, Michael Jackson's other achievements include multiple Guinness World Records—including one for "Most Successful Entertainer of All Time"—13 Grammy Awards, 13 number one singles in his solo career—more than any other male artist in the Hot 100 era—and the sales of over 750 million albums worldwide. Cited as one of the world's most famous men, Jackson's highly publicized personal life, coupled with his successful career, made him a part of popular culture for almost four decades.
Michael Jackson is survived by his three children and an incredible musical legacy.

FARRAH FAWCETT TRIBUTE
 Farrah Fawcett
Farrah Fawcett, whose best-selling poster and "Charlie's Angels" stardom made her one of the most famous faces in the world, died Thursday', June 25, 2009 at age 62. Farrah was suffering from anal cancer.

Farrah Fawcett was a model best known for the famous poster she shot in early 1976.  The poster with Farrah wearing a red bathing suit became a sensation. Her poster sales broke records, making her an international sex symbol in the 1970s and 1980s.

Soon after the photo shoot, Fawcett was asked to join the cast of a new Aaron Spelling TV show, "Charlie's Angels," about a trio of female detectives who work for a mysterious man named Charlie, whose only appearance in the show was through his voice (supplied by John Forsythe).
